Even though the Lord always makes a way of escape, there’s still a need to ensure that temptation doesn’t come. Find out “WHY” and “HOW” as you read this powerful & insightful story
We were driving peacefully home. It was my convocation and it was one of the happiest day of my life.
I went to school 2 days before that day to settle some payments. So my parents, my siblings, and a few family friends came down to my school on the deal day.
It was a fantastic moment. A day I had always looked forward to. There were lots of merriments, laughters, taking of photos, refreshments etc…
At about 5pm, the occasion was over and it was time to go home.
The journey from my school to my house was about 2hours 45 minutes. So we all got into the mini bus vehicle and zoomed off.
In just 30 mins into the journey, something happened.
I noticed that the vehicle started swerving left and right….. I was so engrossed in my Facebook conversations with well wishers that I didn’t know that we had ran into armed robbers and Our driver was only trying to escape the attack.
I quickly had a flashback to 2 days before that day. That was the day I left for school.
That day, as I was on my way to school I had a vision like a flash and I saw robbers shooting at a vehicle that I and my family were in. Shortly after the vision, I got to my destination (school) and I got really carried away with all the preparations and payments I had to make. I didn’t pray and never prayed till the incident actually happened.
(Now back to the incident. )
I was gripped with fear as everyone in the car bowed down their heads including me.
Suddenly, the driver began to slow down because one of the high way robbers had shot at the tire of our vehicle.
I didn’t know what to do because I was really terrified. “What if the robbers decides to kill us all out of anger?” … was the question that ran through my mind.
The robbers hopped towards us and ordered us out of the vehicle. They arranged us. Men to one side and women to the other side.
Before we knew it, their leader pointed his gun at our driver and shot at him. Then he pointed it to one of our family friends and another family friend of ours. He killed both of them. We had 2 more men before by younger brother and then my father.
As he was about to shoot at the other 2 men, it occurred to me that, “Yet, Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no Evil because God is with me. I am loved by God”
As I remembered the Word of God, strength came into me. Other scriptures from my journal of scriptures that I confess everyday began to flow very quickly through my mind.
I suddenly walked up to the leader of the robbers and ordered him to stop. He looked at me like I wasn’t normal or perhaps he thought that my watching him kill my people had gotten into my head and loosed some nuts. So he ignored me, brought out a cigarette and lit it up.
I said to him… ” my sins are forgiven and my father (God) loves me. He has given me the authority over the devil and his agents and I cast you out of here in Jesus Name”
It looked very weird as I don’t know what they heard. All the robbers bowed down to me and couldn’t rise or speak.
It was then it occurred to me that, it is not God’s will for anyone to be tempted. As a matter of fact in the Lord’s Prayer we have “lead us not into temptation but deliver us from all evil”
Temptations doesn’t come to make you stronger. They come to steal your trust, faith, joy and assurance in God. The faith with which I had spoken didn’t come from the temptation rather, it came from God’s word.
God doesn’t want your testimony to be like mine. “Where, I was saved, even though I lost some close family friends.,., and in all that happened I learnt a lesson…………”
God doesn’t teach with sorrow. He only turns those sorrows that we refused to address early and only invited Him after a lot of damage had been done, into something to rejoice about. But that isn’t His original intention. His will is to take you from glory to glory to glory, higher and higher and higher.
Don’t wait till the temptation comes before you pray. Most times when you are lazy and don’t pray , casualties always occurs.
When you are on a very high speed, and you abruptly get to an unforeseen road block, You may eventually make the U turn successfully but along the line you’d have destroyed some road blocks on the road which would cause some dents to your car. Please Pray…. and when you are faced with unpleasant situations, spring to action as fast as you can (pray)
May the Lord take temptations and every manner of evil very far from you in Jesus Name.
